Buckland Lake is a large disused quarry and has been flooded for over 40 years.
There is an abundance of wildlife and the setting is one of peace and relaxation.
Many divers have already commented on the fact that they feel totally chilled
out before and after dives.
On a sunny day it is like being in the carribean as the sun shines on the diving area from dawn to dusk.
Surrounded by white chalk cliffs and colourful vegetation it has to be seen before
you can understand it’s attraction.

Title: Wraysbury lake
Description: Located just near Heathrow, access is easy via the M25, J13. Wraysbury opens at 9am and serves mostly as a training site. The lack of visibility may make it a bad choice for a first open water dive. However, there are four 6 metre platforms, and a few things to look at including a boat, a VW Camper van, a control panel and a taxi. The onsite facilities are sufficient, but it is advisable to get there early as they only have limited parking and on busy days spaces soon run out. Entrance costs £9 (as of Decmber 2012)

Title: Stoney cove
Description: Stoney Cove is the most popular of the UK’s inland dive sites and you can be assured that it will be busy at all times of the year. It is located not far from J20 of the M1 and J2 of the M69. A position in the lower car park by the waters edge requires queuing at an early hour in the morning before the gates open. The facilities here are good and the staff are efficient. The water temperature is always cold, even in the summer, and in winter free flows may be a problem. One attraction is the Hydrobox at 36m, which has air pockets you can talk through a reg to each other in. Others include the block house, cockpit, bus, helicopter and the boat complete with treasure chest (make sure you return it to its place after looking at it!). There are ledges at various depths which are ideal for training. There are even some fish, pike and crayfish. It is a great site for a first open water dive, for skills and for gradually acquiring depth experience.

Title: Pier Dive
Location: Brighton
Description: Dived at high tide, maximum depth of 12 metres, numerous small hermit crabs and some fairly big spider crabs. Found a childs toy car which I was about to pick up until I noticed that its new owner was a particularly large spider crab! There are some debris fields close to the pier presumably of material left by workmen. A few blennies had made their home under a rock and were darting in and out. Pier legs are encrusted with an array of mollusc life. Took several pictures but found that the shallow depth made staying in one spot to take pictures a little difficult as silt soon enveloped subjects. Visibility close to shore on this dive was around 1 metre, however further along the pier near the section containing the fairground rides it improved to around 4 or 5 meters
